ClusMED. Reinforcement of the Research Clusters and Technology Platforms links between Europe and Mediterranean countries.

ClusMED is a Support Action (SA) intended to foster International Cooperation in the area of ICT between Europe and Mediterranean countries. It will build strategic cooperation on top of previous actions carried out within the context of FP7, aiming at fostering the implementation of cooperative research in the ICT field through the identification and benchmarking of National Regulations on ICT for Societal Challenges. The European experience in fostering the overtaking of regulatory barriers is the basis for the extension of such successful practices to the dialogue and international cooperation with Mediterranean countries.

Activities foreseen by ClusMED will contribute to strategic cooperation and to the setting up of a permanent dialogue between European and Mediterranean countrieson regulatory issues in theICTsector as one of thekey drivers of sustainable and inclusive growth.

ClusMED will focus on the role of Regulations as enablers of ICT development through theassessment and benchmarking of the Regulatory framework of MED countrieswith the aim ofidentifying and sharing best practices.

A-CING is taking part in the project focussed in the following WP:

  • WP3: Benchmarking of regulatory activities.The main objective of WP3 is to reach a common and shared understanding of the regulatory framework of each country, its weaknesses and strengths and the obstacles to its implementation/adoption. A second step will be to compare and understand the differences on a regional perspective and with the EU model. The final step will focus on sharing best practices and identifying potential improvements in the model(s) of regulation to enhance the role of the ICT sector as enabler of Development.
  • WP4: Dissemination and networking.The role of A-CING in this WP is to find synergies with other ongoing projects and initiatives in the MED region.
